Why I want to be a teacher -
Throughout
my many travels, I have
interacted with a large number
of children in different countries and seen many of
them never reach their
full potiential or been denied even a minimum education. Every
generation
wants a
better life for their children. To demand less of ourselves is to cast
the future aside and condem our children to a life of stagnation. I
would like to set the future in motion through teaching. Someone once
said, "What I have to offer is nothing compared to what the student
that I help might accomplish. They will not remember me many years from
now. That is all right. As long as they remember to say "yes" when it
is their turn, then I will have changed a future...."
What inspired me to
become a teacher
-
I think I have always
wanted to be a teacher. It took a
special teacher to show me how to reach my goal. Without the help of
teachers to aid us in reaching our full potiential, many never realize
their dreams and settle for less. Dr. Tonya Strickland of Bainbridge
College has given me more than any teacher I have ever known. She not
only taught me the academics needed to reach my goal, she taught me to
believe in my goal and believe in myself. Without her extra effort and
high expectations for me, I would never have taken the first step
towards my dream. She is a great teacher, mentor and friend. Her
dedication to her students has inspired me to reach for my goals and
teach others to do the same.
