Tasmania
Why are Tasmanian Devils so
Interesting?
Tasmanian Devils, one of
the most unusual animals, are found only on the island of Tasmania,
Australia. They have some of the strongest jaws of any
animal. They are known for their eerie sound that they make
in search of food. They mostly eat small mammals, although one
family of devils ate a horse, leaving only the skull behind. The
are known to scavenge anything in sight. So, check out this site
to learn more interesting things about Tasmanian Devils!

Procedures
Step 1:
Students will visit the website www.enchangedlearning.com and view the
tasmanian devil graph. We will go over the body parts of the
devil and discuss each one. We will discuss some habits of the
devil and visit other websites listed above that give more
information about tasmanian devils.
Step 2:
I will give each student a copy of the graph with the words taken off
the picture. The students will label the parts of the
devil. I will have each part on a sentence strip, so that the
children will not have to memorize them.
Step 3:
Once each part has been identified, I will allow the students to color
the tasmanian devil.
Each student
will turn in his/her copy of the tasmanian
devil chart and I will be able to assess each student's paper to know
if they were able to identify the parts.
