My name is Rukiya Mathis, and I am a very unique individual. I was born on December 25, 1984, which makes me a Christmas baby. Everyone says that I am a special person, because I get to share my birthday with Jesus. I have been a true Christian for about three years and God has taken me on a journey I will never forget. I am an aspiring teacher with a strong passion for educating children.

Why do you want to be a teacher?
Teachers have been so influential throughout my life, and I have seen how their influence have impacted me. I have always had a heart for people especially children because their minds are so eager to learn. I am a born leader, which makes the art of teaching effortless. I am an extremely active and artistic person and those qualities produce a well-rounded teacher. My overwhelming imagination usually takes me places I never knew I could go. My energy is electrifying which makes it easy for people to love me. I would love to help build the educational foundation of our next generation of leaders.
What's Your Inspiration ?
What or who has inspired you?
I have always surrounded myself with wise people, because I desire to be wise. My father, who is a pastor, has loads of wisdom and outstanding leadership skills. Even though the subject he teaches is totally different then what I will be teaching in the classroom, his passion for his congregation is breathtaking. He diligently prays, studies, counsels, and lays before the Lord for them. He has also made a huge impact in their personal lives, which is even more rewarding for him. I know what it looks like to be a compassionate teacher because of him. He has inspired me to simply love what I do and strive to leave a positive impression in everyone's life.
