Section 1: Introduction

My name is Ryan Wagner, I am nineteen years old, I was born on September 27, 1983. My hometown is on the coast of Georgia called St. Simons Island. I have lived there my whole life, with my parents and my younger sister Mallory. I attended Glynn Academy High School, which is in Brunswick Georgia. I went there all four years, I played on the varsity soccer team all four years. I earned the HOPE scholarship. I chose to attend Valdosta State University because of the recommendations I got from friends who go here, also I liked the location. While I am here I plan on majoring in Secondary Education.

My mother, Maureen Wagner, along with my dad, Richard Wagner, are both originally from Ohio. They moved down to St. Simons after my dad got a job with Sea Island Company. My mom  worked for Sea Island as well, but now works at Coastal Georgia Community College, in the nursing department. My dad now has his own landscaping business. I have a younger sister named Mallory, who is a sophomore at Glynn Academy.

The Freshman Year Experience Program

Section 2: The Freshman Year Experience

The Freshman Year Experience is a program that helps you get adjusted to college life and helps you organize different things you have going on.  The Experience puts you in most of your classes with the same group of people so that you can make new friends and become closer to many of them.  An S.I. tutor is available if you need one and an Advisor to help with any problems or class scheduling.  I believe the Freshman Year Experience has helped me make many new friends and be comfortable in a place where I didn't really know anyone.  My grades were very successful this past semester and I am hoping that they will be just as good if not better.  I only knew a couple of people from home that came to this school, but by having the Freshman Year Experience I have made many new friends very fast.

Now that my first year is almost behind me I know that I will be ready for a lot of things to come because I have had Dr. Walker's wonderful guidance and the support during the program.  I have learned many study techniques and things I didn't know about computers that have made me a better, well-rounded person.  To anyone considering taking the Freshman Year Experience, I think it is a great move whether you are a social person or not you should consider taking it because the friendships you make could help you out in the long run.  I know the friends that I have met have helped me and I them.  So believe me it is worth it.
