Introduction

I have brought in a mystery bag today. You have to guess why these things are in this bag. Do they all begin with the same sound? Could they all begin with the same letter?

The Task

The student will identify the item and the letter and sound the item in the mystery bag begins with.

The Process

1.    First each student will pull an item from the mystery bag without talking.

2.    Next the students will take turns naming the item they retrieved.

3.    Then the teacher and students will sound out and write the names of the items on chart paper.

4.     Finally the students will identify the target letter and sound.
