As we begin our odyssey in cyberspace, I want us to explore together the concept of 'CyberCulture,' and to read about how virtual communities, cyberspace partnerships, and new cultures emerge through the Net. Our next topic examines the institution of law, and how the law is being changed in light of rapidly-evolving Internet traffic. How does law in cyberspace differ from the usual setting? What are one's rights in cyberspace? One's responsibilities? Take a l ook at this site for some very helpful resources on Internet Law.
We now turn to a very controversial topic, much in the news recently: the issue of HATE on the Internet, and the question of whether efforts to censor websites that focus on hate-filled information are justified. Should one tolerate the hate, and learn from it? Should efforts be made to protect the youth from such vile material? The social debate rages on, as we attempt to wrestle with this thorny matter.
