Adirondack Chair

This Adirondack chair is made using plans I picked up at a woodworking show. It is one of the most comfortable I've ever used. The guy at the show said it was a plan he used to teach kids at a rehabilitation workshop about woodworking. Apparently, they make quite a few of the chairs to raise money for the workshop. The design is very similar to the one in Classics from the New Yankee Workshop.

The chair is made from 1X8 cypress (actually salvaged tongue and groove siding). The construction is simple lap joints with carriage bolts and wood screws holding it all together. The finish is several coats of tung oil.

I've had several requests for plans for the chair. I had planned to work a set up plans in AutoCAD and post them here. Then I found a very similar plan published by The Winfield Collection. Their plan is almost identical and reasonably priced. Also, Dave Brown's Fan Back Classic has many of the same comfort features and a stronger design. Check them out!

Bird Feeder

The bird feeder in the background is made from the same batch of cypress. I left the boards rough (so the birds could hang on) and didn't apply any finish. The sides are made of 1/8" plexiglass so I can see when the feeder needs filling. The clear sides also make it easy to see birds on both sides of the feeder. The post is pressure treated pine.
