broken up into groups of 3 or 4. Each group will select a recipe
to make from the linked
website,"Theme, Life in Early America".
The students will bring in the ingredients for the recipe.
Students
will assemble the ingredients and complete directions on recipe to make
the selected item, The recipes to chose from are: Butter, hotcakes,
applesauce and shawnee cake.
Product:
Students will have prepared and eaten food
that was prepared as it was in colonial times.

clothing worn during colonial times.
Procedure:
They will
make a tricorn
hat as stated in the instruction on this web page.

The students will read a book about a historical colonial figure

event.
Procedure
The class will break up into groups to form
literature circles.
The books they will choose from are: The Double Life of
Pocahontas,
Who's That Stepping On Plymouth Rock? , Where Do You Think You're Going
Christopher Columbus? and Why not Lafayette? and were written by Jean Fritz.
Product:
After four weeks in which the groups have completed their book
and
literature circles, each group will make presentations to the class.
These presentations will include a book quilt, a museum, a
collage and
an open mind portrait.
