Valdosta State University

Hi, my name is Paige Olvaney.  I was born in San Diego, California.  I currently attend school at Valdosta State University.  I am majoring in Art Education.  Someday I will be an Elementary Art Teacher.  I hope to someday transfer to the University of Georgia, to be with my best friends and closer to home in Alpharetta.  I love to just hang out, watch movies, eat good sushi, talk on the phone, and go out and have a crazy night.  I have the best family and friends in the world!  Since high school I have kept close touch with my favorite group of friends.  We call ourselves "The Fab Five"!  My mom is my best friend, and I am often homesick from being 4 hours away from my house.  Other than that I am a free spirited, weird, funny person and you should probably get to know me ;)!

The Freshman Year Experience Program

Here is my  class...(i was absent this day.. oops)

Your freshman year experience at Valdosta State University is critical in laying the groundwork for a successful academic and professional career. Employers view a well rounded successful academic career as evidence that students can be equally successful and productive in their chosen fields.

VSU’s Freshman Year Experience (FYE) is an outstanding student development program that assists first-year students accomplishing these tasks.  The program is designed primarily for students who have not yet decided on an academic major.

FYE has definitely affected my freshman year both academically and socially.  I have met a great group of people who share all of my core classes with me.  Always being with the same class is an easy way to get familiar with the adjustment of being in college.  FYE has also helped me be focused on making good grades and helped me to be organized, responsible, and focused.
