Welcome to
Michelle's Manor

Greetings
one and all! I am so glad you chose to visit today.
On this page you can look forward
to finding out a little about
who I am as well as some of my favorite works.

First let me introduce
myself. My name is Michelle R. B. Everitt. My
early education was unique in that it was spent in the Department
of Defense School systems in Germany. Where I was proudly a Sembach
Tiger. Just
before my freshman year of high school we
returned to the United States where I would eventually graduate from
Lowndes High School. My path would then lead me
to graduate from Valdosta
State University
in 1998 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre. I have since returned
to school and am currently on a quest to earn a Bachelor of Science in
Early Childhood Education. I believe that learning is an on going
process throughout life and I enjoy every opportunity I have to learn
something new.

As I
stated above I had the
unique opportunity to spend my growing years in Germany. I used this
opportunity to travel Europe. Extending my life experience as a young
child to one that I feel very fortunate to have lived. My travels would
Lead me to Rome Italy and the day that Pope John Paul II was shot. My
mother, sister and I were in the audience when the bullets began to
soar our direction. A vivid memory that would forever shape who I am as
well as strengthen my religious
beliefs for my life.
They
Know They Knew
1981: Rome: St Peter’s
Square
Everything is
quiet. So still.
What do they know?
They roost on the
Vatican colonnade.
Waiting on the cusp
of the silence for the crash to begin.
POW!
As if in slow
motion
Silence, why is
everything so silent?
Birds erupt into
flight,
John Paul begins to fall
The Swiss Guards right
him.
The birds have
settled.
POW!
They soar, flap
They ascend and
circle overhead.
He begins to fall
again.
His dove white
robes flutter but show nothing is wrong
Once more, his guards
right him.
Now they are just
sitting, sitting.
They know.
They sit on the Vatican
colonnade as if in wait.
They knew.
POW!
Why do they sit so
still?
He falls for the
third time
Just as Christ did
And this time, they
know,
they see what has
happened
the blood begins to
seep through his garb
and
his protectors shield him.

During my
years in Germany I
would discover my love for Parrots.
I suppose, I was
destined to own special needs birds from the very beginning. My
very first bird was a parakeet who was missing toes. I would later
become Mom to a variety of birds that would pass early in their lives.
Today, I am the proud mom of several special needs babies four of which
are pictured below. Beginning on the left, Hanna, q Scarlet Macaw, has
beak and feet problems. She
always stands in a ballet first position and on what would be her
wrists. Cloe, a Mulloccan Cockatoo, was rescued from a yard where he
had no shade and was being fed nothing but tortilla shells and chips.
To this day he still will not touch anything "tortilla". Max, an
Umbrella Cockatoo was rescued in Colorado where he had been abandoned
in a barn infested with rats. Max does not like two tone hair at
all. And finally pictured is Paulie, a Patagonian Conure, who was
allowed as a baby bird to float on a pool float in a chlorinated
pool. The water from that pool caused brain damage. Although the
people who had him did the right thing and fought to save his life he
was given up. His irreversible brain damage has caused behavioral
problems that make him, at times, difficult to handle. There are many
such cases in existence today and my advice before you buy any animal
is that you research, research, and of course research once more. We
all deserve a chance to have the best home possible and knowledge is
the best defense. Below are three links that I Use often when asked
about large parrots. Use them, enjoy them, but most importantly read
them carefully if you consider a large parrot something you may someday
wish to share your life with.
