Hi
Everyone, my name is Melissa.
I was born in Jackson
Mississippi, but moved to Snellville,
Georgia at
an early age, which is where I did most of my growing up. As a child, I
tried many differant sports including gymnastics, dance, soccer,
cheerleading, and tennis. I was never really able to choose one that I
was really good at or interested in. When I was in High School, I ran
cross country and track for all four years, and really enjoyed
that. Now, in my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym, spending
time with my family and friends, listening
to music, reading, tanning, and of course working with kids.

People ask me all the time "Why do you want to be a
teacher?" I actually come from a family of teachers. My mom is a
High School Math teacher and my sister teachers fifth grade. Growing
up, I always swore that I would never be a teacher, but when I got job
teaching music at a summer camp, I changed my mind. I realized that if
I looked forward to going to work every morning, that this would be
something that I would enjoy doing for the rest of my life. While
working there, I had the oppurtunity to work with children of all all
ages, including students with disabilities. This is also where I
decided that I have a passion for Special Education, and decided that
that is the area of Education that I wanted to go into.

My Schools
I
am currently a Junior at Valdosta
State University in South
Georgia. I am currently in my second professional block of the
Interrelated Early Childhood/Special Education program here. I plan to
graduate in May 2009 with a Masters Degree in Education. I choose to go
to school at VSU because I had heard positive things about the school's
Education Program. Before I came to school here, I graduated from
Brookwood High School in
Snellville, Georgia.
