Greetings from Dalton,
Georgia! Dalton is in Northwest Georgia and is known as the "Carpet
Capital of the World." Dalton is in Whitfield County. I
currently teach at Dalton
High School, which is part of Dalton City Schools. Dalton High
School was selected as a national High
Schools That Work (HSTW) Pacesetter School, one of only 25 HSTW schools to receive this award
for 2008. Go Catamounts! DHS has continued to show improvement on many
of their EOCT scores throughought the past eight years. My name is Michael Keefe and I am currently working with the "College In Sight" program at Dalton High
School. I
graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2007 with
a B.S. in Sociology. During my stay at UTC, I participated on the
school's wrestling team, winning two Southern Conference championships
and placing 5th at the NCAA tournament in 2005. To find out more

coach at Dalton High School where our team finished second in the
Georgia AAAA state dual tournament. They also won the region tournament
for the first time in school history. 
As a teacher in the "College in Sight" program, I stay with the same group of students throughout the day. The students in this program were chosen by their middle school teachers based on good grades, behavior, and work ethic. I co-teach these students in their Math, English, Science, and an additional instruction period. My students are in the ninth grade this year, and I will be moving up with them to the tenth grade this fall. The students take two blocks of English each day, which allows them to finish ninth and tenth grade English in one year. By doing this, the students will finish senior English durring their junior year. To practice for their End of Course Test (EOCT), our students use an online test program called Thinkgate, a program which consists of games and EOCT emulations.
