This can be somewhat of a difficult task for younger students to learn, but not impossible. ![]() Title of software program: Microsoft Paint Published by: Microsoft Corporation Description of use: The students will use this program to draw a picture of an animal that interests them. The picture will correspond with the short story written in WORD. Evaluation: Microsoft Paint is also a fairly simple software for children to use. Children as young as preschool can be productive with and enjoy this program. ![]() Title of software program: JumpStart Animal Adventures Published by: Knowledge Adventure Description of use: The students can explore several different animal habitats. The graphics on this program are amazing. The students will receive plenty of habitat knowledge while being entertained by a bat named Batney Ears that sings like Britney Spears and crabs that sound like Green Day. This program hones in on what kids are interested in and uses that to teach them all about animals' natural habitats. Evaluation: This program has three levels: easy, medium, and hard. So, every child should be able to get something out of this software. ![]() Title of software program: The Magic School Bus Explores the World of Animals Published by: Microsoft Description of use: Thirty games and activities to help children learn why animals live where they do and what they need to survive. Students can explore seven different animal habitats around the world and the animal habitats within each zone. Evaluation: This software may be somewhat more difficult for younger children. ![]() Title of software program: Wildlife Park Published by: Encare Description of use: You have to know a little bit about your animals for this game. After learning all about the habitats, get this software and build and manage your own wildlife park. You have to be sure you know all about the animals' needs before you begin ... you wouldn't want any of your animals getting sick, or worse. Evaluation: Although this is not one of the better learning tools for animal habitat, it is an interesting way to have the children apply their knowledge. The great animation creates more real-life experiences for the player. |
