Me & My husband Chuck at Panama City Beach ~ 2008

My name is Ellita Blackburn, and I would like to tell you a little more about myself.  I am thirty years old and recently widowed.  My husband of nine years was killed in an accident in November of 2008.  I am currently a Junior at Valdosta State University.  My major is Early Childhood Education.  My plans are to graduate from VSU in December 2010 and begin teaching children in the Cook County area.  I am originally from Marietta, Georgia, but moved to south Georgia when I was twelve years old.  I enjoy living in the south and look forward to teaching in the same community that I was raised in.  I love working with children and am very excited when I think about my future in Early Childhood Education.  Continuing my education was a big step in my life at my age, but I believe that the sacrifices that I have made will be worth it in the near future!

In my spare time I love to travel!  My favorite places to visit is the mountains and the beach.  A few places I have been are, Helen, GA, St. Augustine, FL, and Gatlinburg, TN.  I also enjoy shopping, making jewelry, and spending time with my friends.  I don't get a lot of spare time, so when I do I take advantage of it and try to live life to the fullest!  My friends mean the world to me and have really proven themselves to be true.  For that I am so grateful!  Photography is a very big part of my life!  I have always enjoyed taking pictures of friends, family and nature.  I recently moved and have been remodeling for quite some time, so I am enjoying taking my time and decorating my home one room at a time.

Since I have chosen education as my career, I have already started looking for websites that may help me once I enter my classroom.  My favorite website is  Teacher's Paradise.  They have many great deals on creative ideas that is sure to help any teacher searching for a bargain!  A website I feel will be useful when searching for a neat idea for a field trip for the students is Love that teaching idea.
