Hello!
My name is Brooke Wright and I am a junior at Valdosta State University. I am
working on my bachelor’s degree in
Early Childhood and
Reading Education Department and Special Education. I was
born in Douglas, GA and I
have lived there my entire life. I
graduated from Coffee High School in
2001. I am currently enrolled in the
cohort program that VSU offers at South Georgia College in Douglas. I also work full-time at the
Georgia Department of Revenue. Working full-time and going to school at
night takes up most of my free time. Although whenever I get a chance
to do something that I enjoy I usually go to Fernandina Beach, Florida
or go shopping. However,
right now
having the opportunity to do either of these things has become very
scarce.
I
am extremely close to my family so I am
enjoying this program because it allows me to acquire my degree and
also stay
at home. I have one brother that is 5 years older than me. He is
married and
has a 20 month old son. The most exciting moment in my life was the
first time
I got to hold my nephew, Elijah. At that moment he captured my heart. I
promised him and myself that I was going to try to be the best “Aunt”
that I
could be. When Elijah was 6 weeks old my brother and his family moved
to another state. This was very heartbreaking
but we
still
get to see them often. He is such an extraordinary little boy. He’s
very smart!
He can already count to five and he knows most of his colors. It melts
my heart
when he says my name. To me he says it better than anyone has ever said
it!
He’s also
a very outgoing child. He has fun wherever he goes. He loves books. One
of his
favorite things to do is have someone read to him. His favorite movie
is Shrek
2. He will sit through the entire movie without blinking an eye. While
his mother
was pregnant I knew that he was going to be extra special to me but I
never
imagined that the love I have for him would be to this extent.
