Louisvale Wine Farm

Geological History
The history of South Africa is ancient. Some rocks, about four billion years old, are reckoned to be amongst the oldest in the worlds. Some 180 million years ago, the then subcontinent of Gondwanaland broke up and drifted apart to form the continents of South America, Australia, the Antarctic and the subcontinent of India. Continual geological processes have since shaped the huge African mainland block into its present form. These processes are still happening today eroding away the deep continental edge.

About the Picture (Louisvale Wine Farm):
South Africa's premier wine growing region, Louisvale Wine Farm is a specialist producer of world class wines.
The farm, with it's exquisite views over Stellenbosch and the Devon Valley, measures 17 hectares in extent and benefits from an ideal meso-climate of rich soils and cooling coastal winds which are perfect for the production of top quality wines. It is nestling amongst the beautifully manicured gardens is the Louisvale homestead which was built according to plans by the famed architect Sir Herbert Baker.
