Hello! Welcome to my web page!!!!!
My name is Leah Lane and I am currently an Early Childhood Education
major at Valdosta
State University. I have had a fairly steady
education. My family did not move around much so I was able to spend my
entire grade school career in the Colquitt County School System
beginning with R.B.Wright elementary, the moving on to C.A.Gray middle
school, and finally graduating from Colquitt County High School's
college preporatory program. After a short break I moved on to Abraham
Baldwin Agricultural College were I graduated with an associates degree in Liberal
Arts. My main interests of study have always been theatrical and
performing arts. I hope to utilize these arts in my teaching
technique.
In the past I have spent much of
my free time working with different children's theatrical programs. I
have taught groups of young people puppets, interpreative dance,
and basic acting skills in different churches. I have also volunteered
with the Colquitt County
Arts Center children's theatre department where I created and
taught specific choreography and stage movement. A somewhat new
favorite past time of mine is pageant choreography. In 2006 I
choreographed several dances for the Miss CCHS pageant. My most recent
accomplishment in the acting world was a short term employement at Wild
Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta,GA for the Halloween and
Chirstmas program. When I am not dancing or working in theatre I am
reading or attending some performance. I like see different artist of
all genres of performing arts.
Colquitt County is mainly an
agricultural county. It is made up
of several small towns around a little town that is only slightly
larger than the rest. The slightly larger one is my home town: Moultrie, GA. My family moved
around quite a bit, but the good thing for me was that we never moved
outside of Moultrie so therefore I never had to change schools. Growing
up, my family encourged my brother and myself to be active in many
programs outside of school as well. I attended dance lessons at Miss
Mary Pat's. I took acting lessons at the Art Center. I also played
backetball and softball through the Recreation Department.
Looking back on my childhood I believe that I had a very well rounded
experience and hope to implement many of the things I learned in my
teaching.
