Who Am I?
My
name is Lauren Terry. I am 21 years old and a Junior at Valdosta
State University.
I
am majoring in EarlyChildhood Education
with my masters in reading.
I was born and raised in the middle Georgia area. My hometown is
Warner Robins, Georgia. I am very much involved with church
activities. Jesus is everything to me. I attend
Southside Baptist Church. My family lives in the country on 5
acres. I am very close to my family and friends. My
parents, younger sister, and our three dogs live at home. My
sister will graduate high school this semester and will be at VSU in
the fall. We are both very different, but enjoy being around each
other. My
parents are truly my role models for how I want to live my life
everyday and how I desire my relationship with my spouse to be one
day. My extended family is just as close as my immediate
family. The time spent together is very precious to me. I
feel privileged to have a family which is so close. I believe
that without my family and friends I would not be
who I am today. I have a very wonderful boyfriend named Daryl,
which I have been with for two and a half years. I have made many
memories with my family and friends. I have been to the Bahamas,
hiked in
the mountains, and traveled to the beach each summer. I enjoy
traveling,
lying out in the sun, working out, taking pictures, and staying
outside on sunny days. I love collecting children's
books! Creating arts and crafts, scrapbooking, shopping,
spending time with friends, and visiting new places are how I spend my
spare
time.
Why
Educate?
I have always wanted to be a
teacher for as long as I can
remember. I want to be a teacher so that I am able to be the one
person that every child in my class can depend on to have a smile each
time they enter my classroom. I desire to educate because I want
to make a difference each day I go to work. Through educating, I
will create an inviting and safe environment for each of my
students. I want to educate so that I am able to be a voice for
my students, but at the same time teach each of my students to have a
voice for themselves. I want to be a teacher so that I
can learn new ideas right along with my children. I want to
educate so that I am able to encourage my students to get excited about
learning for the rest of their educational careers.
My
Inspiration
I believe that throughout my life, my mom has been the one person that
has inspired me to want to become a teacher. I have been raised
in her classroom my whole life. I believe that only recently have
I learned to appreciate the relationship that she is able to build with
her students that I long to have one day. I admire her patience
and eagerness to participate in new learning strategies. She has
inspired me to follow my heart and be excited about changing the lives
of little ones. I hope that through her inspiration I am able to
be an unforgettable teacher just as she has been throughout her years
of teaching.
