| The
students for activity 2 were given a small paragraph that had words in
them that are multiple meaning words. The students were told to first
go through and read the paragraph. Then they were given a certain color
of crayon and asked to go back through the paragraph and re-read and
pick out the the words that are multiple meaning words. These students
are in 3rd grade. The first student that did this activity picked out all of the words that I had originally picked. I asked the first student why they picked these words and what made them multiple meaning words. The student was able to give me another or at times a couple examples for each of the words that they had identified. The first student did not struggle with this activity and because it did not take the student long, we went back throug hthe eBook and looked at the links that we might have skipped over or that the student wanted to practice again. Overall the student said that they enjoyed the activity and that it was helpful to pick the words out of a passage. The next day when I came in the student brought up there chapter book and told me how they had found 3 multiple meaning words while they were reading. |

I asked the student why they picked these words and what made them multiple meaning words. The student struggled just a little bit with being able to tell me why some of the words were considered multiple meaning word. The word that caused the student the most trouble was rest. The student could not give me another example of the word. I gave the student the two following examples of the word rest in a sentence: I need to go lay down and rest for a bit. Did you eat the rest of your food? Once I put the word into more examples, especially ones that I feel the student could relate too. Overall the student enjoyed the activity and asked for the link for the game. |
