This book is a rhyming , cumulative story.  The number of ants double each time they take another food item from the picnic lunch.  At the end the number reaches 512 ants.  Its a fun book to help introduce doubling to children.

	Charlotte's Web	E. B. White	4-10/K-4th	1952/ Harper	Charlotte's Web is about a pig named Wilbur who thinks his time to live is going to be cut short.  It teaches  children that everyone only has a certain amount of time to live.  It introduces the reality of death to a child in a positive way.

	Once I was a Square	Adele Aldridge	8-11/2nd-5th	1974/Magic Circle Press	This is a cute visual book for children.  It starts by saying "Once I was a Simple Square.  All I had was my line," then it gets weight and a circle making it more complex.  Then finally at the end it is just a square again.

	Good- Bye Tonsils	Juliana Lee and Craig Hatcoff/Marilyn Mets	4-10 K-4	2001/Viking Children's Books	Juliana has had several sore throats and has to have her tonsils removed.  Juliana and her parents read about the process and help her prepare for the operation.  This book takes children along through the process.

Froggy gets to miss school to go to the doctor to get a check-up.  His experience started when he arrived at the doctors' office and realized he forgot to put on his underwear.  He then had to make a pair really quick with part of a paper gown.
	Monsters Get Scared of  Doctors Too	Melissa Lagonegio/Atelier Philippe Harchy	4-8 K-2	2004/Random House,	Sully had a bad cold and was afraid to go to the doctor. However, his friend Mike kept insisting and told Sulley that he would stay with him.  That seemed to work and Sully went and realized it was not so bad after all.
	The Berenstain Bears Go to the Doctor	Stan and Jan Berenstain	4-8 K-2	2003/ Random House Inc.	Mama and Papa bear take Brother and Sister Bear to the doctor for a check-up.  Their apprehension was lessened as they went through the process.  At the end they had to have a shot to keep them from getting sick and all the other cubs were impressed with Sister Bear's braveness.

Gregory the goat is not like most goats when it comes to eating.  Instead of eating violins and trash Gregory would rather eat eggs, fruits and other healthy foods.  After his parents took Gregory to see Dr. Ram they have been okay with his eating habits because the Dr. explained that it was okay.

	Open Wide It's Tooth School Inside	Laurie Keller	4-8 K-2	2000/Henry Holt and Company	Dr. Floss man takes attendance and all thirty-two teeth are present.  This book teaches children a lot by stating facts about brushing and tooth decay and plaque while making it interesting for children.  The book is about a classroom of teeth who learn about the important aspects of flossing and brushing.

	Clarabella's Teeth	An Vrombaut	4-8 K-2	2003/Clarion Books	Clarabella and her friends wake up and brush their teeth.  The others finish quickly and enjoy the rest of the day.  It takes Clarabella all day and when she finally gets finished it is time for bed.  Her friends surprise her with a bigger tooth brush so she will be able to finish sooner.
