About Me
My name is Lindsey and I am 21 years of age.
Here at Valdosta State I hold leadership positions in two campus organizations, Chi Omega Fraternity and the Campus Activites Board.  In Chi Omega, I was the chapter Secretary and now I am currently the chapter President. While I am not doing things for my sorority I am planning events for the Valdosta State student body as the Special Events Chair on the Campus Activities Board (CAB).

I was born New Orleans. Louisiana and I lived there for 12 years.
And now for the past 9 years I have called Snellville, Georgia my home.  I enjoy being independent here in Valdosta, but I miss my family very much.  I also have an older sister who lives in Boston, and I only get to see her on holidays.

Who Inspired Me to Teach
As a child, I can remember always playing school in my bedroom and teaching to all my barbie dolls.  While in New Orleans I attended Alice Harte Elementary School where for the most part I had great and memorable teachers.  When I was in the sixth grade, I unfortunatly had a teacher who did not know how to teach the given material
nor did she care about teacher her students.  During that year I missed out on very important content and in the following years I had a lot of catching up to do.  When I moved to Georgia, I attened Brookwood High School, and there I had a wonderful physics teacher.  This certain teacher made learning a hard subject so fun and exciting!  He had many different methods of explaining the topics and never once critizied a student if they did not understand instantly.
I had the opportunity to have the two extremes of teachers--the great and the bad.  Both of these teachers inspired me to teach in their own different ways.  I learn what works and what does not work in a classroom setting.

Why I Want to Be a Teacher
It was that year, 1996, that I made a promise to myself: I would never let anyone have a teacher who did not care about their job or have a teacher who was uneducated in the field of teaching.  So I decied that if I became a teacher, I could help students have fun while they learned and want to continue in their education.  The only positive thing that came out of that sixth grade year was a second grade teacher whose classroom was right next door.  During that year I was able help in the classroom and I get a taste of how a real classroom  was supposed to be managed.  Also I was able to help students with their classwork and I had the satisfation of watching stuents learn what I was helping them with.
