Hi!
My name
is Kathryn Simpson, and I live in Adel, Georgia. I
can’t honestly say that it is my hometown, but it's where I have been
the
longest. Which is my dad's fault, but
in a good way. I am an Air Force brat
through and through, so we were quite the nomadic family when I was
growing up. Basically moving every two years,
to be exact. But it's okay, for I have learned so much about
people and
places that when I look back now, I feel much pride. It was a
privilege. Yes, it stunk then, having to be uprooted
from new friends, but I think it has given me a new perspective on
things. My
dad and mom divorced shortly after moving back to Georgia, however they
and their extended families are a large part of my life. As for
sibilings, I have a sister and two brothers. In 1995, I graduated Beta
from Cook High School
in Adel, Georgia, and then attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural
College. I met my wonderful husband and we now have two
children: Allie (8) and Jacob (7). They are the love
of my life. I started back to school Fall 2004, and graduated
from
ABAC December 2005. Spring Semester 2006 is my first at Valdosta State
University. Some of my hobbies are reading, watching movies, and
riding on my husband's Harley. On a beautiful day, the ride is
spectacular.
I have
wanted to be a teacher
for as long I as I can remember. I remember how I would make my
sister so mad, because when she wanted to play Barbies, I wanted to
play school. And how I couldn't wait until the end of the school
year!
Not for the obvious summer vacation, but it was the time where teachers
would give away all of their old worksheets and workbooks. I
couldn't wait to get home and teach my stuffed animals!! Above
all, though, I believe it is what I
have been created to do. For me the desire to teach is like a
strong emotion. There aren't really any words that can describe
it. As
cliche as this may sound, I really want the opportunity to give back to
what has been given to me, for I feel that education is a gift.
And not to forget to mention that I absolutley love children..they are
much
more fun than adults.
It is hard
to pinpoint
exactly what inspires me to become apart of the profession I so highly
admire. I know that I want to be better than my worst teachers
and try hard to be as good as my favorite ones. I feel that
because of the opportunites I have had, with having seen exciting
people and places and even coming from a divorced home, there is a lot
I have to offer.
