Hi! My name
is Korry Allen and I am a student at Valdosta State University.
My major
at VSU is Special Education and Early
Childhood Education. When I graduate I want to work with childern who
have special needs and disabilities. My whole life I have gone to
public schools and I graduated from Westside High
School in Macon, Georgia. In high school I was an active member of
our Drama Club and I participated in many shows which our school
produced.
Along with theater, I love sports. I have played softball since I was
10 years old and I played in high school. While in college I play
intramural flag-football and softball. I am also invloved with the
Baptist Collegiate Ministry at VSU.
I was
born in Winston Salem, North Carolina, but I have lived in Macon,
Georgia for 19 years. I guess you can say I call Macon my
hometown. I have wonderful parents, Wayne and Peggy, who love and
support me 110%.
I
have an older brother, Chris and
an older
sister, Jenny. Growing up in the Allen household was interesting and
there was never a dull moment! My brother, sister, and I are pretty
kooky and funny people. Well, we at least make each other laugh. Most
of the time you will find us either telling embarrassing stories or
watching TLC. We love that channel and
probably watch it more than we should. The
rest of
my family lives in Knoxville, Tennesse and that is my favorite place to
visit whenever I get the chance. One day I would like to live in the
mountains and be best friends with Dolly
Parton (of course I am only
kidding ... maybe a little serious).
My passion in life is to work and help
people who have special needs.
During the summer I work at a camp that is designed for children who
have special needs and disabilities. The camp is called Camp Hawkins
and it is located in Mt. Airy, Georgia. I look forward to summertime
and being with all my friends who are very important to me. When I am
not doing school work, I like to spend time with my friends and family.
Being with them keeps me grounded and it is nice to have a support
system. When I get the chance, I enjoy watching or playing sports. I am
a big Tennessee
Vols fan, especially during the
girl's basketball season!
