The Freshman Year Experience Program
The Freshman Year Experience program is very effective if you ask me. I feel more comfortable going to the classes where I know the people around me. The purpose is to help freshman transition easier from high school to the college atmosphere. I have made better grades in the classes where it was an FYE class because I was not scared to ask other students for help since I had already knew them. When I tell other students about FYE that are not in it they regret that they did not get in it because they often feel lost at times, and out of place. FYE also gives me more chances to do community service which will help further resumes. I have learned many things from my teacher Dr. Tillman and peer mentor Kay and the other students in the class. I am more open and I talk more in class. I suggest every student take FYE the first year of everyone's freshman year at college. Most students coming into orientation have never heard of FYE so it needs to be more advertised to high school students. It has been a great experience and I will be sad when I am not in this program anymore.
