Who
is Ms. Ellington?
Ms.
Ellington has lived in Henry County her entire life. This means
she knows the ins and outs of every back road and hot spot in the
county. After graduating from the University
of Georgia (GO DAWGS!!!) in 2007 with a BA in English, Ms.
Ellington decided to pursue a career in teaching after spending a year
working as a teacher's assistant in a local high school. The
2008-2009 school year will be her first year teaching and she could
not be more thrilled! Aside from teaching, this will be Ms.
Ellington's second year as a varsity
basketball cheerleading coach. In addition to coaching, other
activities Ms. Ellington enjoys are traveling, gardening, reading,
painting, writing, and spending time with family, friends, her
boyfriend Spencer, and her two dogs Tuffy and Buddy.
What
is this class all about?
English 2 (otherwise known as Sophomore English) focuses
on
and highlights various examples of fiction, poetry, and
drama. This
course is designed to teach students how to think critically about
literature and eventually put those thoughts on paper. We will
also spend much time working on and discussing persuasive
writing.
Students are expected to read all assigned text, write a total of four
papers per semester, participate in class discussion, and complete
weekly journal assignments to be turned in every Friday. Ms.
Ellington will
be available upon request for additional help and assistance.
