I
am
Katrina Abdur-Rahman and my major is Special Education. I was born and
raised in a
small town about a hour and fifteen minutes north of Valdosta called
Cordele Ga. The thing Cordele is mostly known for is being the
Watermelon
Captial of the World. I
am the third child out
of three sibilings with me being
the only girl. I received my education in the
Crisp County School System where I graduate the class of 2001. After
completed hight school I attended Abraham Baldwin Ag. College of Tifton
Ga. There I recieved an Associate Degree in Family & Consumer
Science.
Check
Out My Special
Talents
My
talents are very
limited
however, I do have a strong interest in American Sign Language. My
skills are considered Intermediate therefore, I know a enough to
communicate with the Deaf and or hard of hearing. I am an active member
in the ASL Club and willing to give most of my time towards helping the
Deaf Community to be respected. We've recently started a petition that
involve the Deaf Community going to Valdosta's theathre to see close
caption
films. As of now everything has been successful. Some accomplishments I
made are recieving an Associate Degree from Abraham Baldwin Ag. College
and getting through the first semester of my teacher's proffessional
courses.
Something
Special Something special I
would
like to do is master my teaching to the point where I will be able to
teach children with disabilities without the assistance of medication.
I feel there are many ways of grabing the attention of young children
and hopefully throughout my educational and teaching
experience I will accomplish my goal.
Look Who's In My
Top Five
1. Shelby Mustang is one
favorite website because I'm a Mustang Fanatic. I have been a fan of
the Shelby's Mustang since I was a little girl. If I weren't pursuing a
teaching career I would probably do something with cars.

2. HGTV start at home
is
another one of my favorite websites. One of the things I enjoy is
watching HGTV with my mother. There we are with our pencil and
notebook, nose aimed straight at the television ready to soak in
any & everything that graps our attention. http://www.hgtv.com/
3. Food Network.com
is like heaven to me. I LOVE to eat. If I'm not thinking about
assignments that are due, my brain automatically switch to wanting
food.
I'm not a very good cook however, this website provides wonderful
detailed recipes on what to cook.

4. The Teacher's Corner
is an awesome website. It contains hundreds of ideas on how to set up
your class, bulletin board, lesson plans, teacher's resources and
alot more. http://www.theteacherscorner.net/
5. Hobby Lobby to me
is a place where a teacher can go and have a field day. Everything a
teacher needs to organize and make her room feel "teachy" can be
found at Hobby Lobby. http://www.hobbylobby.com/home.cfm
