I was born to a large family, three brothers and five sisters, being placed in the middle of nine children (fifth child). I have an older brother (Anthony), two older sister (Laverne, Joy), one younger brother (Dwayne) and two younger sisters (Dominique, Tanya), a sister (Portia) and a brother (Michael) are deceased. My parents (Vincent and Gwendolyn Thompson) are also deceased but has left me with many wonderful memories of our time together as a family. I also have many nephews and nieces. Growing up in Nassau, Bahamas was an experience I will always treasure because I was always surrounded by my immediate and extended family (lots of cousins). Today we remain close as adult friends and our children are now each others friends. It is always a joy to return to Nassau for a visit to not only see family but longtime friends.

In 2001 upon completion of my doctorate degree, I felt a desire to remain in the U.S.A. and did so beginning my position here at VSU. A year ago I met the man (Jason Rowland) that I am now married to at the church I regularly attended.

Here are some pictures of my great family.

The Engagement Photos

In preparation for the big day, we took engagement photos to share with our families near and far.

Some of the Wedding Photos

August 2, 2003 was certainly the best day in my life! It was on this day that I married my best friend, Reverend Jason Brian Rowland.

The bridal party consisted of family and friends.

My sisters, Dominique and Tanya, and my nieces, Shakara and LaChea were the bridesmaids.

Other Photos of My Family

These were taken at various times.

My sister, Laverne and the girls (my nieces) came a week before everyone else did. We were having lunch at the Valdosta Country Club.
Jason and Jerome decided to join in on this photo outside the Grill at the country club. The girls are, LaChea, Tenaj, Laketra, and Latrell

Some of my nephews at our rehearsal dinner: Rico, Ahmar, Cisco, and Lequient.
Kara and Ketra at my bridal shower at the Hilton hotel, given by my longtime school friend, Christine.

Lequient, my oldest nephew is now a graduate of Southeastern College and is beginning his professional career in the ministry. He is working at an Assembly of God church in Pembroke Pines, Fl.
Here is another picture of Minister Bethel, this time in color!

In February, Jason and I adopted our son, Joshua Brandon who was born on February 7, 2006. Josh has been a wonderful addition to our home and has brought us such joy. Here are some pictures of the progress of his growth.

Giving Josh his 1st bath was quite an accomplishment! Josh's 1st Easter with his Easter bear angel from Nana.

Josh has an easy baby temperament. He loves to laugh with anyone who will talk with him.

Yes, he loves to go to church because he get to see so many children who will play with him.

Ahh yes, daddy's pride and joy! Mommy loves him big much!

Our family minus Jerome.

Dr. Cunningham and I decided during a break at the conference to take a walk and view the sites. We are outside of the capital building.
