Hey! Welcome to my web page! My name is Julie Smith, I am twenty years old, and I am originally from Griffin, Georgia. I now call Valdosta, Georgia my home. I am currently a junior at Valdosta State University, where I am a special education interrelated early childhood major. I am really excited about becoming a teacher and I am so ready to have my own classroom! My mom and I are very close! She is my support system and has been so wonderful and supportive with my schooling. She keeps me motivated because she has such strong faith in me. If it wasn't for her, I would not be able to make any of my dreams come true.

    Since I was a little girl, I've known I wanted to be a teacher. All throughout high school I volunteered in various teaching environments. I volunteered a lot of my time to a local special needs school, worked with the special Olympics, and was also involved in the teacher cadet program. I am very patient when it comes to dealing with children and I feel that I am able to explain things clearly in a way children can relate to them.

My Inspiration?

My third grade teacher, Mrs. Johnson, was a big inspiration to me. She was a hard and strict teacher who had high expectations, but she managed her classroom in a way so the children wanted to meet her standards. I decided I wanted to teach in the special education field during high school. As I mentioned before I volunteered at a special needs school and absolutely fell in love with the environment. I am so thankful that the special education interrelated early childhood program was created and I can start a career that I am going to love.
