Dr. Peterson, a professor at Valdosta State University, is a specialist in comparative politics, American foreign policy, and public administration. Within comparative politics he offers both the capstone course for undergraduate political science majors and a course on the post-communist systems of Central Europe/Eurasia. In addition to the basic course on U.S. foreign policy, he also teaches a course on global security policy. Graduate courses within the MPA graduate degree program include national security administration/policy, an on-line foundations course for entering students, and the on-line capstone course for students who are completing the degree.
Recent publications and convention papers focus on Czech foreign policy, integration of ten new nations in NATO, and party politics in the Czech Republic. He is also Head of the Department of Political Science.
