Hi! My name is JoAnn Pulliam.  I am currently a junior in the College of Education at Valdosta State University.  I am majoring in Interrelated Special Education & Early Childhood Education, which will result in a Master's Degree and certification to teach in a mainstream, inclusive, or special education classroom in grades Pre-K through 5.  I have a passion for helping others learn and have aspired to teach since my early days of school.  I am on track to graduate with my bachelor's degree in May 2008 and with my Master's in May 2009.  I am also considering taking classes online during the next two summers to receive an endorsement to teach gifted education.

I grew up in Monticello, Georgia, a small, Southern town located in Middle Georgia.   It is the hometown of country music singer Trisha Yearwood and has been called the "Deer Capital of Georgia".   I attended K-12th grade in the Jasper County Public School System.  I graduated Jasper County High School in 2004 as Valedictorian and Star Student of my class.  Throughout high school, I was involved in Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Students and Athletes, Student Council, Literary, Teacher Apprenticeship Program, and 4-H, among other activities.  I have worked hard to be where I am today, but could not have done it without my wonderful family who has always supported and encouraged me to shoot for my dreams and stand up for what I believe.

Ever since I was a couple of years old, my family has taken vacations to the Great Smoky Mountains in Cherokee, North Carolina.  Lots of good times and many great memories have been made here and it is probably my favorite vacation spot.  However, I also love the beach.  Tybee Island, near Savannah, GA was always a favorite beach location for family vacations.  We also like to take lots of day trips.  My family is very close-knit and that is the way I want my own future family to be one day.

I am a very practical person.  I like to have a planned schedule, know to some extent what to expect, and in return, I will make sure to let my students know what I expect of them.  I love to read and am always interested in learning something new.  I love to read anything by Nicholas Sparks and Mitch Albom I enjoy traveling to new places and making new friends.  I am very involved on campus and use these opportunities to meet so many new people from all over the nation.  I have never traveled outside of the country, but would love to have that opportunity one day soon.  I take lots of pictures and love to scrapbook...it is my stress relief!  I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and my amazing boyfriend.  They all inspire me and give me no choice but to have fun and enjoy life!
