Valdosta State University
Hello! My name is Jami Lyn Medley. I am a freshman at Valdosta State University. As of right now, I have not declared a major yet. The main reason is because I really want to be a part of the Family and Consumer Science College at Georgia Southern University. I am planning on finishing up my core here at VSU and then transferring. I decided to come to Valdosta State for my first year of college because it was closer to home. I am the baby of my family and my parents were very worried about me going far away from home. My family is very important to me. I have an older sister, brother, and a brother-in-law who I would claim any day! I love my friends so much. They are always there for me and they keep me sane. I have been dating my boyfriend, Keith, for five years now. I don't know what I would do without him. He is my rock and has helped me through so much the past seven years that we've known each other. I am a Christian and I try my best to show Christ in everything that I do.
The Freshman Year Experience Program
The Freshman Year Experience program is a great program to be involved in your freshman year of college. Even though I lived off campus and was not able to live with the rest of my fellow FYE peers, I feel like I really benefited from the class. I have learned so many skills that have helped me develop as a college student. I am glad that I decided to take this class because it helped me not only in my academics but also in my social life as well. I encourage all freshmen to be a part of the FYE program.
