4th grade
class web page! We here at Dowell Elementary School
are very excited about the 2008/2009 school year! Dowell has met AYP
(Annual Yearly Progress) for the last four years. We are located in Marietta,
which is
also home to "The Big Chicken." A four story Kentucky Fried Chicken
restaurant that serves as landmark to visitors and locals alike. Check

Hello!
My name is Josh
Porter, and I was born and raised just outside of Atlanta. I
graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South
Carolina, where I was on both the wrestling and rugby teams. I
have a real passion for both sports, but I am concentrating on coaching
wrestling right now. I will be the assistant wrestling coach at Kennesaw Mountain High School
this year, and I am serving as an assistant for the Team Georgia National
Schoolboys team. I enjoy running with my girlfriend. I also love
to read, and enjoy sharing this love of
reading with my students!
In this class we dare to
try! The words "I can't" are not allowed to be said. We
might not be perfect at everything we do, but we will try our
best! When I was a student my
favorite teachers were the ones who read to me! We will not only
read the standard books, but also some fun interesting
books too! In my class I will be reading The Lightning Thief by
Rick Riordan. We will learn all about Percy Jackson, and his
adventures with the Olympians. We will also be doing alot of
writing this school year. Everyday we will have a writer's
workshop where we will use the 6+1 writing
traits. I can't wait to see what the 08/09 school year has in store
for us!!!
