Valdosta State University

Hi, my name is Joshua Daniel Namuco Gervacio, and I am the middle child of three.  My sister Erica is the oldest, and Jacob is my littler brother.  I love sports, and I love to chill with other people.  I plan to major in Biology and go into the medical field to become a physical therapist.  I am a Christian, and I go to Open Bible Baptist Church where I also went to high school.  To me this church is like my second home and anyone who will want to visit my church is more than welcome to come.  I am 100 percent Filipino, but I cannot speak my native language.  I am friendly and will be anyone's friend.  I am always willing to have a great time and always up for a great laugh.  I love sports, and I am very competitive.  I am going to try out for our baseball team in the fall, and I pray to God all goes well.  Hope you like the page and enjoy life in college here at VSU.

MY CLASS

The Freshman Year Experience Program

Your freshman year experience at Valdosta State University is critical in laying the groundwork for a successful academic and professional career. Employers view a well rounded successful academic career as evidence that students can be equally successful and productive in their chosen fields. Success begins by mastering the three principal tasks of the first year student:

  • Academic Skills Development
  • Adjusting to College Life
  • Developing Academic & Career Goals

VSU’s Freshman Year Experience (FYE) is an outstanding student development program that assists first-year students in accomplishing these tasks.  The program is designed primarily for students who have not yet decided on an academic major.

The Freshman Year Experience is great for meeting great people and making new friends.  It creates an opportunity for an incoming freshman to ease on in the college life and also enjoy the college life experience.  At first I did not think that being in this program was such a great idea but now being in it I have no regrets. So far I have had great classes, teachers, classmates, and a couple of laughs along the way. With this program I feel more comfortable in finding a major and finding what I want to do with my life.  This freshman year has been nothing less than a blast, and the people I am around daily are nothing but great.  In a way this program helps a person to find who they are and where they are wanting to go.  If you love to experience new things and meet great people, take this program and you will not regret it.
