About Me
My name is Ashley Pearce. Married with two dogs, my life is pretty hectic. I was born in Vermont and moved to Chattanooga at the age of 5. My sister and I enjoyed living in Chattanooga. We are both competitive swimmers, which was our life until we graduated high school. I went on to Knoxville, Tennessee and pursued a bachelor's in Anthropology. While being a Volunteer, I met my future husband. We both graduated the great University of Tennessee on December 2003 (the day the United States captured Saddam Hussein). I moved to Phoenix, Arizona after graduation to learn more about myself. Being the dork that I am, I started going to school in Phoenix. You would think I would be over school, but I truly enjoy learning. Enjoying the fast pace life of Phoenix, my life was interrupted with a wonderful surprise...my UT boyfriend proposed. I moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico shortly after. After nearly a year of marriage, we moved with our WONDERFUL dogs to Georgia. I have enrolled in Valdosta State University to become a teacher (graduation day is approaching, December 2008). Because of my husband's job, I know that being a teacher has great job security; being an anthropologist was my first career choice, but I could not find a job as easily. Teaching will give me the opportunity to help shape the future of our country, and I look forward to that challenge.
My passion is traveling. While in high school, I had the chance to go to India. A group from high school went to India for a month, backpacked the Himalayas, went to the Taj Mahal, and sadly got gearrdia. The trip changed my life because it opened my eyes to a whole other world. If it is possible, I try to submerge myself with different cultures and ways of life. My husband and I got the chance to travel to Costa Rica--here we come--surfing.

My Talents and Accomplishments
I enjoy painting. Some might say this is a talent, but it a way for me to escape the reality of everyday life. I haven't been able to paint as much because of school and life as a married woman. My biggest accomplishment is competing in a figure show in April 2007. It had been a life long dream to compete in a show, but never had the opportunity to do it. It took a lot of hard work and a strict diet for almost a year to complete this dream. I would train at least three hours a day and one hour of posing after an intense workout. I was very proud of myself because I was able to continue to do very well in school. Another accomplishment that I am proud of is graduating the University of Tennessee. I feel in love with anthropology and worked hard to graduate with my degree. Being married to my wonderful husband of almost three years is the BIGGEST accomplishment. We have had our ups and downs, but our relationship grows stronger and stronger each day.

Something Special I would like to do...

Some special things I would like to do is backpack through Europe, teach in Africa, and continue to grow in my relationship with my husband. Traveling throughout Europe with all of my belongings on my back would be an incredible experience. Seeing first hand the museums and architecture that I fell in love with in my history and middle ages classes would fulfill a life long dream. Secretly I dream of living during that time, and to be able to be in the actual places would be AWESOME. Eating wonderful food and seeing a part of the world that my family came from would be a dream come true. Teaching in Africa would be the ultimate dream cometrue. I would love to help educate the children of a war torn area because I believe education helps people make better decisions and prevents future mistakes. Education really does open the door to a better life. If young girls, especially were given the opportunity to learn, this would help the lives of future generations not be as repressed and would be better and more fulfilling than their parents and grandparents. Finally my last special thing I would like to is to continue to grow with my husband. He is truly my best friend. He understands my sense of humor and loves me no matter the crazy mood I am in. I would love to share these dreams with him, as I would love to share his dreams. What a dream come true to be able to make changes in this crazy world with my best friend by my side...

Some of My Favorite Web Sites
1. Map Finding
I really enjoy this website because I like to know distances between cities and fun places that I like to visit. Staying in one place too long makes me edgy and to solve this problem, I use MapQuest to see how long it would take me to drive to a place outside Valdosta. Looking at maps is enjoyable because I can find little towns to stop at when I am making plans for a trip. Check it out!

2. MSN

The MSN homepage is my homepage on my personal computer. Hotmail is the way I communicate with friends and family. I can easily access my email through this website. I can check out movie times, Hollywood gossip, political and international news, and sports. MSN has it all for me!!!

3. iTunes

Apple’s iTunes store is where I download all of music. I pay for my music, audio books, and TV episodes. Guilt prevents me from downloading illegally. I plan on buying a Mac Book soon (students get a great discount), so I spend a lot time researching the Mac Book through Apple’s website. iTunes is easy to use, and it updates my iTunes on my laptop regularly—thanks for keeping me current.

4. Wikipedia

I love Wikipedia. Anytime I want to know information about any topic, I type in the topic into Wikipedia’s search. This website is great because it gives you links in the explanation on a topic to further explain it.  With all the places that are hot topics in the news, Wikipedia allows me to know the history of the place and gives a glimpse into some of the reasons problems or solutions have occurred there.

5. Women’s Health
This is the website to one of my favorite magazines. I do buy the paper copy of the magazine, but the Internet site allows me to print out recipes, copy and paste links for apparel, and remember what I liked in the magazine after the magazine is long gone.
