American Symbols Learning Activities
The students will identify important American symbols and explain their meaning.
In kindergarten, the students begin their introduction to United States history through the study of important American holidays and symbols.
All learners are five to six year old kindergarten students who have little or no prior knowledge about American Symbols. Most of the students have heard and recite the pledge to the flag daily.
No prerequisites required
American symbols will begin to teach and give students back ground knowledge about some of our country's history.
The students will identify important American symbols and explain their meaning.
A. The national and state flags (United States and Georgia flags).
B. The bald eagle
C. The Statue of Liberty
D. Lincoln Memorial
E. Washington Monument
F. White House
G. Pledge of Allegiance

Students
will explore websites to learn more about American Symbols.

Students will be given pictures of a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter. The will choose the piece of money that has the Lincoln Memorial on it and identify the man on the penny. |
Students will draw a picture of the Lincoln Memorial and write one sentence about it. |
Students will explain where the Lincoln Memorial is, who it memorializes, and why. |
