The Virtual Cell

This website contains an interactive picture of a plant cell.  Student's can click on each part and the name will appear beside it.  Also, there is a link at the top of the page which allows students to hear the proper pronuncition of each part of the plant cell.

Build a Cell

This website allows students to build their own cell.  Students will be asked a trivia type question and then asked to find the plant part the question is referring to.

Cell Biology Word Search

This web page contains a crossword puzzle game that allows students to find the vocabulary words associated with a plant cell.

Interactive Cell Animation

This website contains an animated version of plant cell parts and also animates functions of the cell, such as mitosis and meosis.

Cell Mitosis

Web page contains a crossword activity that allows children to read the clues and figure out whic part or function it refers to.  Activity can either be printd out or done interactively.  Great way to develop vocabulary related to cell mitosis and also practice the concepts.

  1. Building a Cell / This website contains an interactive activity that allows students to build a
plant cell.  To complete the activity a definition is given and then the student must pick out the
cell part that it is refering to.

2. PLO - Student will learn the names of the cell parts and the function of each part.

3. Web Site and any other materials that students need to do the activity:
  http://www.bioscope.org/taste/builda.htm

4.
Procedures  - Students will be asked to navigate the website and read each definition.  They
will also use the build a cell link to build their own cell on the website.  Once the children have
done the online activitiy, have them write a reflection paper over what they have learned.

 5.  Product: After the students have visited the website, they should be able to correctly
identify each part of the plant cell and tell its function.  They may demonstrate this knowledge
by writing the reflection paper and also labeling the parts of a cell on a paper diagram of the
 plant cell. (Teacher will provide)
