Hi! My name is Hanna Sumner and I am an Early Childhood Education major at Valdosta State Iniversity. I love children and think they all deserve a chance in life and this is why I chose to become a teacher. I am a volunteer dance teacher at a youth center in my hometown and absolutely love it. The kids I teach come from situations in which their parents are unable to afford dance lessons. I enjoy being able to give them something they may have never been able to attain and making a difference in their life is everything to me. The world is full of trouble for these kids to get into and I love the fact that I can pour into their lives seeds of hope for a better tomorrow. I try to teach my kids that life is full of possibilities and if they want to do something, just try. You never know until you try and for those who may not have parents who are able or willing to support them, I am there to fill in the void. Regardless of their race, color, size, economic status or academic level, they deserve the right to learn and to be enouraged to reach for the stars. I believe we are all gifted in some way, some of us just need a little help opening the package.

I love to dance and presently volunteer at a youth center teaching dance to underprivileged children. Like I said, I love teaching. Music is also a passion of mine, I play the bass guitar in a Christian band in Enigma, Georgia. I also am a Youth Leader at my church. I love working with kids in all areas. I am also a Hair Designer and am currently employed at a local salon. I love my job, but my heart is in teaching children.

Something Special I Would Like To Do

I would like to go on a mission trip to South America and volunteer at a school. There is a shortage of teachers in some other countries and I would like to offer my time and help. I would also like to visit Italy and take a ride in a gondola and have the Italian man serinade me. Taking a road trip to the Grand Canyon would also be pretty cool. I have many interests, some strange I know, but I am an adventurous person and like to experience new and out of the ordinary things.

Valdosta State University

I presently attend Valdosta State University and I frequent this website. I am able to check my email and keep up with assignments from this site. I can also keep up with all the extracurricular activities offered on campus. My only complaint about this university is the parking, other than that it is an excellent place to receive your education.

Book Search and Price Comparison: This is a website I frequently visit. I am an avid reader and am always searching for a new book to read. This site has been extremely useful to me because I can simply enter what book I am looking for and it does all the searching for me. This site will search all of the sites that sell books and list them by price from least to greatest making the decision process much simpler.

The Kennedy Family Missions: The Kennedy family is a family of missionaries who have an orphanage in Peru. This site is very dear to me because I have several friends who have been there and I am planning to visit this summer. The Kennedy’s have done a lot to help the orphans in Peru and they frequently visit Berrien County and keep us updated. The site has pictures of all the children and I am able to stay updated with a particular child there that my church supports.

Christian Guitar Resources: I am a bass player in the praise and worship team at my church and I enjoy this site because I can find bass tabs and guitar tabs for pretty much any Christian song I want. I don’t read music well, so I use tab and any time I hear a song I want to learn, I can go here and find it.

Unplugged Online Movie Reviews: I love this site! This site lists movie reviews of all kinds and let’s you know what to expect as far as violence, profanity etc. This comes in quite handy because it’s hard to tell simply by the rating PG13. I have rented movies before that were PG13 and I certainly didn’t find them suitable for children of any age. When I am taking my niece or nephew to the movies, this is the site I look for so I don’t get any unwanted surprises in the theatre.

MySpace A Place for Friends: This is a cool site for keeping up with old and new friends. I use this everyday to talk with my sister who is miles away and my friends who are also miles away. We can see each others pictures and how much we’ve changed and also keep up with what’s new in each others lives.
