Rate of Change
A linear function has a
constant rate of change and is graphed with a straight line. One
way to examine a constant rate
of change is to look at the slope of the line, which compares the ratio
of the vertical change (the rise) to
the horizontal change (the run) between any two points on a line.
You can always find the slope of a line by measuring how far it goes up
or down on the y-axis (rise) over how much it goes
left or right (run) on the x-axis. To refresh yourself on
slope-intercept form, visit Maths Is Fun
