Expected Outcomes: Participants will demonstrate the following:
1.
Describe methods in nonprofit marketing in order to understand the operation of nonprofits in today’s environment.
2.
Delineate the key elements in a typical nonprofit organization. Include information on the importance of the mission, objectives and goals. Apply this knowledge to the study of a particular nonprofit organization.
3.
Understand and explain the ethics of the nonprofit professional in working for and evaluating nonprofit organizations.
4.
Develop a handbook/guide for nonprofit managers.
5.
Examine the research, organization, and the dynamics of grant writing and participate in the planning, research of producing grants and fund raising projects.
6.
Identify problems presented in nonprofit cases and develop solutions, options, and plans of action.

Course Requirements: Develop a PowerPoint presentation on a nonprofit organization. A topic and prospectus will be submitted for evaluation and approval. The presentation might include history, legal description, status on membership growth or lack thereof, volunteer base, and clients. We will have online discussions of the presentations. (Individual Project)
  The class will develop a handbook for nonprofit managers. The pamphlet would include procedures for development of the following: Incorporation, Constitution and by-laws, Mission Statement, Budget designs, Job Descriptions (paid staff and volunteers), Projects and Activities, Committees and guidelines, Grant Information and Guidelines, etc. (Group Project)
  Teams will research, develop, and present a grant proposal and a presentation to a funding source. (Group Project)
  Lead a topical class discussions on a concept, issue or trend related to nonprofit organizations. Each student will be assigned or select a topic for discussion. These topics will be assigned from the assigned textbooks. The student will be expected to present the assigned section, lead the discussion, and research any additional material for the class to develop. (Individual Project)
  Outline a marketing plan for the nonprofit organization that was the subject of your initial report. Suggest methods for building the membership or getting more volunteers involved. Address any ways you think the organization can better use marketing to address the mission. (Individual Project)
  Class participation. Be prepared to contribute and discuss the material presented. We will have online discussions that will be graded. See the "Discussion Threads" outlined on our Class Assignments page. (Individual Grade)
