Title: Microsoft Word 2003

Published by: Microsoft

This software is good to use with any age and can be used with any subject.  A teacher could make a graphic organizer that the students can fill in later or students could make and fill out the graphic organizer in MS Word.  The only problem I see with this software is that the user has to be instructed on how to use the diagram feature in MS Word.

Title: Civil War Multimedia Collection CD

Published by: Teacher Created Resources

This software is a good resource for teachers that are teaching the Civil War. The program has video clips, audio clips, pictures, documents, and ideas for activities.
Include on the CD are video clips of reactments of Sherman's March to the Sea that can be used by teachers when giving a whole-group lecture to students about the Civil War in Georgia. The teacher would need a presentation system in her room to use the video and audio cilps in this software in this manner. The software only cost about $20.00.

Inspirer History Series: The Civil War Inspirer
Published by: Tom Snyder Productions

This is a good software to reinforce information about the Civil War. It also helps develop students' problem solving skills and social skills. This software is an interactive problem solving game. In this program students take on roles as major characters in the Civil War. The students work as a team to solve the game. The only problem that I foresee in this program is that the students will have to spented a lot of time building background information to be successfully  using this program.
