THE ART OF TAOIST TAI CHI
Due to many years of abuse to my body as a performer and choreographer, I am now dealing with chronic back and hip problems. Because of this I have sought out many different therapeutic programs. Taoist Tai Chi is the one form that I can honestly say has lessened the pain and has allowed me to regain a great deal my flexibility Because of Taoist Tai Chi's many physical, mental and spiritual benefits, I decided to become an instructor and help others improve their health.
In 2002 I was certified as a Taoist Tai Chi instructor and since then I have been teaching beginning classes to the community, VSU faculty and students.
The International Taoist Tai Chi Society is the largest Tai Chi organization developed under one master instructor - Master Moy Lin-shin.
The aims and objectives of the Taoist Tai Chi Society are shared by all branches and affiliates of Taoist Tai Chi Societies world-wide.
1. TO MAKE TAOIST TAI CHI AVAILABLE TO ALL
We are dedicated to bringing Taoist Tai Chi to every community, so that its many benefits are available to all who wish to experience them
2. TO PROMOTE THE HEALTH-IMPROVING QUALITIES OF TAOIST TAI CHI
Practiced diligently, Taoist Tai Chi cultivates both mind and body to restore and maintain good health. Our efforts are directed at making these health benefits better known and understood, so as to promote physical, mental and spiritual well-being in the community.
3. TO PROMOTE CULTURAL EXCHANGE
Through Taoist Tai Chi and other activities we endeavor to make the richness of Chinese culture more accessible, and thereby promote greater understanding and respect among people.
4. TO HELP OTHERS
The foundation of Taoist Tai Chi is compassion. Our underlying charitable orientation is in keeping with the Taoist values of selflessness and serve to others. Our inspiration is the example set by our founder, Master Moy Lin-shin, who has dedicated his life to others without seeing personal gain.
Consequently, all our instructors are volunteers, and all our branches operate on a non-profit basis. We also provide other services within the community, and assist other charities whenever possible.
