Valdosta State University

My name is Elizabeth Frances Vaughn, and I am a freshman at Valdosta State University. I am currently planning on becoming a middle school teacher. I decided to come to Valdosta State University mainly because of the weather, the beautiful campus, and because my sister, Anna, is also attending. Anna is a junior and is studying to become a nurse. My parents are Bruce and Hazel Vaughn. My father is the pastor at Deepstep United Methodist Church in Deepstep, Georgia. I have lived in small towns all my life because of my father's job as a pastor, but I have also loved every minute. My mother is the head of the nursing department at Washington County State Prison. Believe it or not, she loves her job!

Hope you enjoy looking through my website!

The Freshman Year Experience Program

The purpose of the Freshman Year Experience Program is to give students an easier transition from high school to college. Students who participate in this program have a better start when it comes to making friends and learning in communities because we take three classes together. The FYE program has certainly made my college experience easier, because we have a class that explains the in's and out's of college and created a homelike environment for me. I have learned that people will be there for you within the program and that we will stick together. FYE is like having all your friends in one class, because we really are all friends. FYE is definitely an experience with which every college student should start.
