ECED 3190 End of Semester Information


Check the ECED 3190 Web Page for complete information of final assignments and due dates.  Remember it is noted in the Practicum Handbook that all assignments must be completed to receive S for ECED 3190. 

Listed below are some of the due dates and assignments for ECED 3190:

  • Be sure you have posted all of your reflections in the ECED 3190 Reflection Journal.  The Fourth Journal  (Weeks 7 & 8) was Due: Friday, November 7 at midnight

  • 5th Meeting - 11/19/08 Wednesday Practicum Meeting 1:00-1:50 in Room 272
    • Due: 11/19/08 Practicum Notebooks (See Practicum Handbook for contents & order)

  • Due: 11/20/08 Bring your digital video as a file (to the 3:30 ECED 3000 class) that you recorded for your practicum self-evaluation

  • Handwriting Lessons - Need to have 1st assignment sent to the handwriting company to be graded by 9/25/08.
  • After you receive your first graded lessons back from the handwriting company, then complete and send in the 2nd lesson during November.
  • After you receive your second graded lessons back from the handwriting company, then complete and send in the 3rd lesson by the end of November.




Information for ECED 3190C Practicum Notebook

Below is a list of the Practicum Notebook requirments that you should have ready for our last ECED 3190C practicum meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 1:00-1:50 in Room 272.  See ECED 3190 Practicum Handbook for complete information.  (Note: You will need to include all information below;  the #6 & #7 sheets of information must be completed by your mentor teacher.)


Have the items below together in the listed set order and ready to hand-in at the practicum meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 19.  We will place them in your departmental practicum file.

1. Evaluation for Practicum: Page 28 in your Practicum Handbook. This should be the first page.  Complete all the information at the top of the page.

2. Letter of Appreciation:  Include a copy of a typed, formal letter of appreciation reflecting three contributions of the mentor teacher to your professional growth, as directed in the syllabus.  (Your letter of appreciation should be given to your mentor teacher at the end of your practicum time in your practicum classroom.)

3. Time Sheet:  Include a time sheet, signed by the mentor teacher, recording dates and times in the classroom and total of your number of hours. To be satisfactory, a minimum of 100 hours must be recorded among all practica experiences, with evidence of consistent attendance and
punctuality.

4. Five packets of lesson plans with the observation evaluation attached to each of the 5 packets.  (*Note: Five lessons must be observed and evaluated.)

a. Self-Evaluation of Videotape Lesson:  Submit the original and a copy
from LiveText of the COE Observation Instrument with comments for each
indicator. (Submit the corresponding contextual factors and lesson plan
which will be returned to the student.)

b. Peer Evaluation:  Submit the original and a copy from LiveText of the COE Observation Instrument, completed by a peer with comments for each indicator. (Submit the corresponding contextual factors and lesson plan which will be returned to the student.)

c. Mentor Teacher Evaluations:  Submit two completed forms, COE Observation Instrument, completed by your mentor teacher. (Submit the 2 corresponding contextual factors and lesson plans which will be returned to the student.)

d. University Supervisor Evaluation:  Submit one completed form, COE Observation Instrument, completed by your university supervisor. (Submit the corresponding contextual factors and lesson plan which will be returned to the student.)

5. Teacher Candidate Self-Evaluation of Dispositions: Complete the form on LiveText (we will complete this in ECED 3000 class) and submit a copy of Teacher Candidate Self-Evaluation of Dispositions.

6. Mentor Teacher Evaluation of Teacher Candidate Dispositions: Have the mentor teacher complete the form, Program Disposition Evaluation by Mentor Teacher of Teacher Candidate, and give it to the practicum student to submit.

7. Final Evaluation of the Practicum Student by the Mentor TeacherHave the mentor teacher complete the Final Evaluation of Practicum Student by the Mentor Teacher form and give it to the practicum student following a discussion.

    1. You will need to make two (2) video clips in VAT from you video tape that you made for your self-evaluation and downloaded in VAT.

    2. You should make the two video clips that would show beginning practicum students an effective strategy that you used.  Your comments with the video clips in VAT should explain each of your effective teaching strategies and how your students responded to your each of your two selected strategies.
