This book gives teachers a repertoire of basic skills that can be used for dealing with discipline problems in a wide range of management situations.

Payne, R. K.  (1998). A Framework for Understanding Poverty. Highlands TX:  aha! Process, Inc.

In order to effectively teach students from generational poverty (3 generations in poverty), you must understand the "hidden rules" of living in poverty.  Dr. Payne will open your eyes to the underlying reasons that students in poverty behave the way they do and will explain how you can be flexible and responsive to them.  Module Six:  Discipline Interventions describes several behaviors related to poverty and explains the best interventions.

This guide provides suggestions for positive and proactive behavior management strategies for promoting positive self-esteem and social skills.  This guide recommended for grades K-6, however, may be functional for students with mild disabilities in higher grades.

This guide is divided into sections that target specific types of problems.  Sections include managing physically dangerous behavior, managing severely disruptive behavior, self-control training, mentoring, and other supportive topics for teachers of students exhibiting maladaptive behaviors.

This book has technical tips for handling problems with children of all ages.  The author addresses what is likely the root of the problem, and the author models the process of solving discipline problems through case studies.
