Tips for Publishing
Background
If your background
did not publish or it seems to
have a problem, follow directions below.
- Enter the URL address
of the page to correct the publishing background problem
- File
- Edit Page - this should open your page
in Composer
- Select Format --> Page Colors &
Background. Under Background Image, delete any text in front of the
name of your background image (example
below now shows just name of background image - bgworldgray.gif)
- Select Advance Edit - Check the middle
tab to be sure listings for your background
image is: url(nameof background) (see example below: url(bgworldgray.gif)
- OK
- Publish your page
(Be sure
you have the Include image and other
files ... box checked. See
example below.)

After publishing your page go to SSH Secure Shell (yellow folder on
desktop of VSU computers) If you need to download SSH Secure
Shell, it is a
FTP software. See VSU link
for recommended software that has a link to download SSH Secure
Shell.

After
you download Secure Shell FTP
1. Open: SSH Secure File
from
your new Secure Shell icon on your desktop (it is the yellow SSH folder)
* Select: Quick Connect (see
picture above)

Host Name: www.valdosta.edu (see picture above)
* User Name: yourusername (see picture above)
*
Select: Connect
(Several windows will open)
* Information Window Select: OK
* Enter Password Window: write your
password
* Information Window Select: Yes
2. * Select: public_html

* On the
left side of the Secure Shell window find your html Web page, image,
etc., that you want to move to
the VSU server. (see picture above)
* Drag the
name of the Web page or image over to the remote server (VSU) side. (see
picture above)
* Your image has been added to the VSU
server.
(Now you are ready to go to your Web page
on the Internet and refresh your Web page to make it show up. If
you are using SSH to add an image or background then after you refresh
your web page it should show up.)

Tips for Publishing Images
- Be sure images are gif,
jpg, or jpeg
- Be sure images do not have a space in their name
- Be sure when you publish new images the first
time you have the disk in the computer and you
have the Include image and other files ... box checked.

example above.
- Be sure you publish images from one disk at a
time.
- After publishing hit Reload to check your images.
