First Journal (Weeks 1 & 2) Due: Friday, February 10 at midnight

Discuss the stages of development of the students in your practicum classroom (e.g., cognitive development, physical development, social development, emotional development, moral development, gender differences)

Second Journal (Weeks 3 & 4) Due: Friday, February 24 at midnight

Tell about your selected student. Discuss the selected student's goals and specific teaching strategies that could be used to assist the student in achieving his/her goals.

Third Journal (Weeks 5 & 6) Due: Friday, March 10 at midnight

Discuss two or more strategies that you would use with literature books in your practicum class.

Fourth Journal (Weeks 7 & 8) Due: Friday, March 31 at midnight

In the second SEEC 3690 journal discussion, you shared information about the goals for your selected student. The discussion for this journal should include the outcomes of the goals for your selected student. Also include data as evidence to support your selected student's achievements.

* ECED 3190 Practicum begins Tuesday, September 13, 2005

Cook County Pre-K School Practicum Students - Please park on east side of school (where the teachers park) and enter the door on the east side of school. There will be a school sign-in sheet in room 401. After you sign in, please meet Ms. Lisa Heard in room 403 at 8:45 for a Greet & Meet Orientation. Ms. Hargett will assist practicum for VSU, bu will be out of town for our first day.

Clyattville Elementary School Students - Dr. Brantley, the principal of Clyattville Elementary School, will meet you in the media center at 9:00 on Tuesday. She will welcome you and give a brief orientation to the school. After the orientation, Dr. Brantley will take you to your practicum classroom and introduce you to your mentor teacher.

* Full time in practicum classrooms : October 31 through November 11, 2005

Discuss two or more classroom management strategies that you would implement in your pre-k or kindergarten practicum class.(e.g., classroom routines, transitions, distribution and collection of materials, grouping students, managing student behavior)

Second Journal 10/7/05 (Weeks 3 & 4)

Discuss the diversity in your classroom and two or more strategies that you would implement with your pre-k or kindergarten class to help your students understand that diversity in a clssroom can be a positive factor and experience for everyone. (Diversity refers, but not limited to ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status, special needs, and family structure.)

"Analysis of Your Lessons" Taught to Your Students in Your Field Class

Your analysis of your lessons to go with your observation evaluation should be a brief (about 1/2 page) reflection of your lesson. Include:

Tell what your student learned as a result of your lesson.
Tell what you learned about yourself, your students, and the teaching profession from your lesson.
Tell what you would do differently in your teaching in the future.

(We discussed in our last practicum meeting that you could copy and the reflections that you added to your lesson plans for your Analysis of Your Lessons for your Paint Lesson & TopicQuest Lesson.)

Please Note Practicum 3190C Meetings & Information for November and December
   * November 3, Wednesday, at 2:00 in room 81 to discuss practicum portfolios, teaching lessons, letters of appreciation, teaching videos, etc.

   * November 8-November 19 - Full-time practicum includes all day in the schools. You are required to maintain the same hours as your mentor teacher. (If you need to return to campus for regular scheduled class, be sure to have hours needed in the classroom.)

   * December 1, Wednesday, at 2:00in room 81 to turn in practicum portfolios, videos, etc.
