Candy Battles:
A Little on Me
As you can see above, I am Candy Battles, and I am currently a Freshman at Valdosta State University. I am in the process of studying Elementary Education with intentions of teaching Kindergarten through second grades. Yes, I can assure you I know what I am getting into. I spent one semester of my Junior year and my entire Senior year in a Youth Apprenticeship program where I worked in Elementary school classrooms, so I have plenty of experience and I still love teaching.
I graduated in May 2007 from Chapel Hill High School and after moving to Tennessee with my family for the summer moved back down to GA to attend VSU. I chose VSU because it has a good education program and it also has a Deaf Education program so that I can study Sign Language as I prefer. My favorite part of college is my friends and the opportunities I have available for various activities.
The VSU Honors program is a wonderful option for all types of students at VSU. The program is available to any student with a 3.0 GPA or above. The requirements are simply to take 5 honors courses of your choice as well as two Honors seminars throughout your time at VSU. The program offers many opportunities for students both in the social and academic worlds. Smaller classes, higher quality student-teacher interaction, and early registration are just a few of many wonderful benefits from this program.
