Make Convection
Currents!-The students will fill a clear plastic container about
the size of a shoebox with water until it is 2/3's full. Letter the
water sit until it is completely still. The students will add two drops
of red food coloring at one end. Next, the students will add an ice
cube made with blue food coloring added to water. The students will
then see how convection works. THe blue water will separate from the
red water.
2. The students will learn about convention. Ben Franklin studied convection.
3. Science is the content area that will be used for this activity. Language arts will be used as they describe what happens.

The students will see the two colors separate until the red warm water rise and the blue cold water sink. They will then discuss the way the water splits.
