Math Candyland
|
Real-World Activity:
I have created a board game for the students to play. The board
game is very similar to another board game known as Candyland.
The board will consist of square boxes of different colors. The
students will take turns rolling the dice. They will advance as
many spaces as the dice says. They will draw a card represented
by the color square they land on. The card will have a math
problem on it. They will solve the math problem. If they
answer the problem correctly, they will stay on that space. If
they answer the problem incorrectly, they will move backwards one
space. The first player to get
to the end of the game board is the winner.

Lesson 1
Directions: Students will create their own cards to go with
the game. They will think of their own math problems and write
them on the front of the card and the answers on the back. They
will use construction paper and markers to complete this
assignment.

Lesson 2
Directions: Students will create more math cards to go along with
the game using Microsoft Word. They will type up some math
problems and copy and paste the problems on the front and the answers
on the back of the cards.
