This is a story about a little boy named Jack. Jack is a five-year-old who is in Kindergarten. Jack has blue eyes, brown hair, and freckles covering his nose. He is a little boy that loves to go outside! The first week of school was over and the weekend had finally arrived. Jack couldn't wait to go outside! It was Saturday morning and a rap-a-tap, rap-a-tap-tap-rap noise woke him up. He got out of bed and went to his window. He pushed back the curtains to see that the sky was dark and gray. It was going to rain. "Of course," thought Jack, "the sun could always come out." But all of a sudden, BOOM! came a loud roll of thunder. "Oh no!" though Jack. "Now I'll never get to go outside and play!"
Jack changed out of his pajamas and into some blue jeans and a shirt. He walked downstairs to the kitchen where he sat at the table and poured himself a bowl of Lucky Charms. He was pouting and his mom asked him what was wrong. Jack gloomily said "It's raining outside and I wanted to go out and play." "Cheer up," said Jack's mom. "Just find something interesting to do around the house." After Jack ate his cereal and put his dishes in the sink, Jack wandered back upstairs to his bedroom to see if he could find anything interesting to do. On the way to his bedroom, he noticed the attic door to his left. Jack had always been curious as to what was up in the attic. And what could be more interesting than exploring a place that you've never seen!
Jack opened the door to the attic. It was dark inside. He quickly turned on the light so he could see better. As Jack looked around, there was nothing but old, dusty boxes piled everywhere! Jack decided to pop open one of the boxes. In it he found what looked to be a bunch of old clothes. They were clothes that looked like a pirate would wear. So he put on a big black hat with a large, white feather sticking out the top of it. Then he found an eye patch and a pretend sword. He had quite an imagination and played pretending to be a pirate hunting for a "lost treasure" in the attic. Before Jack knew it, his mother was calling him downstairs to eat lunch. He noticed that it was still raining outside. His mother asked him if he was having fun playing in the house and Jack replied "Yeah! Rainy days aren't that bad after all!"
